First long run in ages under my belt

I finally got out there yesterday morning and put in a nice 8 miles.  I felt pretty good and am happy that I got through it.  This is my first time trying to post a run from Garmin Connect...lets see how it works!

8 miles in Saddle River Park via at Garmin Connect

Prior to the long run yesterday, I ran again last Thursday, a nice easy 4 mile run.

I need to find more places to run.  I always run in the same huge 14mile park but I'm starting to get a little bored.  It's good in that I don't have to worry about cars, sidewalks, etc but it gets repetitive after awhile.  There's only 4 place that you can start your run (one on each end, 2 in other parts in the middle of the park) so there's not many options.  I'm still intimidated with running on the street though, for some crazy reason.  I need to get over that!

Training and Gym time has Resumed!! Plus tiny Disney news

After a few 'changes' in my life the past month or so... I realized I need to get back into gear with everything, especially training and eating healthy.

Returned from Greece this past Sunday and it was an AMAZING trip! Did get slightly sick a day before we returned so I skipped the gym on Monday to rest up and make sure I'm good to go Tuesday.

Tuesday morning woke up bright and early and headed out for a 3 mile run.  I haven't ran in 23 days!! TWENTY-THREE!! That's crazy and pretty sad for me. :(  I kept a decent 10min/mi pace, went out much faster for the first mile but then slowed down a bit.  Considering thats my normal pace, I'm happy. :) Perfect day too...65 degrees and overcast.

After work Tues I even went to the gym and did a serious leg workout.  My legs are hating me today though, but it feels great.

This morning (Wed), I was going to run but it was raining so I headed to the gym and just did abs.  WOW was it tough! Since I haven't done anything in a month, the first set wasn't bad but I couldn't get through a full 2nd set. :( Annoying but it can only get better from here, right?

Hoping to get back to the gym later today for some cardio and plyometrics. Cross your fingers!

** As for the Disney news, I was able to update my ressie for January and get a 25% discount at Pop.  So 6 nights we got for $432..not too shabby.   Tried to get the AP discount for October but no such luck. Oh well.

Trying to get back in the swing of things...

After sending an email the other day mentioning that I 'used' to write a Disney-ish running/food blog, I realized I missed it and haven't been over here since April!

Tiny recap of what's been going on... After the Disney half, I pretty much lost most of my motivation to continue hard core training.  I did run 2 more half marathons (13.1 NYC which I blew my PR out of the water in 2:15!! and also the Long Branch Half in 90 degree weather...blah!).  Did a few relays with the gym crew, including a 92-mile relay across NJ this past weekend, which was an awesome experience!  I'll see if I can post some pictures after editing them all.

So now as for my Disney running news?!

I'll be running in the Inaugural Wine & Dine Half Marathon on Oct 2nd!! I mean really...did you think I could stay away from F&W AND an inaugural half marathon with fabulous bling?  How could I say no to this medal?

I'm already planning ways to stuff my face with as much food as possible, yet not hurl it all up for the night time race.  I arrive bright and early Friday morning and will be staying at All Star Sports.  Haven't stayed there before but it looks cute.  It was the only value that offered transportation to the race so I went with it.  Would have loved to splurge for POFQ but didn't see the need to spend the extra cash for only a quick weekend trip.

After heading to the expo to meet up with other ROTE and pick up my race packet...it's off to Epcot to feast on Food & Wine Fest opening day.  I also think there's a dinner planned at Via Napoli for the ROTE gang.  Saturday I'm going to TRY taking it easy.  Seriously...I will try. :)  Might head back to Epcot for a little bit, or do some MK touring.  Not sure yet.  Race starts at 10pm so I'll head back to the hotel at a semi-early hour to get my stuff all organized and ready.  10pm start and then up until 3am partying the night away with my fave runners at the Epcot after party!

Sunday will be more of the same... MK or Epcot...or both.  My flight is around 7:30pm so I have some time.  Trails End lunch with the ROTE gang too so that should be fun!

Whew...so that's my Wine & Dine weekend in a quick summary.

The other big news?!

I registered for the Disney FULL MARATHON this coming January!!! I have no idea what I was thinking....crazy, I know! So training NEEDS to start soon!  I'll be heading on a trip to Greece with my cousins in a few weeks but when I get back I need to hit that pavement running!

Ok, that's all for now... I'll try to come back before my trip and say hello again :)
